Stop smoking - hypnotherapy clinic based in London, specialising in hypnosis to help people stop cigarette smoking

Smoking is a habit   The first cigarette that a person smokes is an unpleasant experience, however as with riding a bike, it gets easier and soon becomes a habit. Most stop-smoking programs work at increasing the individual's strength to resist the desire to smoke. They rely on willpower, and as willpower fluctuates like moods and emotions, one day it may be strong, the next day it may be weak. The detrimental effect of smoking on a person's health is now public knowledge, and for this reason many smokers are now looking for ways to quit. Smokers will tell you that they 'enjoy smoking' but in the same breath will probably say that they hate the smell and want to give up anyway. It has been found that people smoke for one of two reasons. Firstly that they are identifying with a peer who smokes and secondly as a replacement for something e.g. eating or affection.

How can hypnosis stop smoking?  Here at Avanti Hypnotherapy, we use the Valerie Austin Harley Street Technique for smoking cessation. Valerie Austin has successfully being using this technique over the past 15 years at her clinic in Harley Street. Using Advanced Structured Hypnotherapy, the link of satisfaction between a part of the subconscious mind and the cigarette will be broken and the desire for a cigarette will be redirected into something more advantageous. Hypnosis takes advantage of the mind's natural ability to imagine and visualize. The clients picture themselves free from the habit, filled with new health, energy and vitality. They can see themselves as looking healthier, more attractive, and being more active.

Why choose Avanti Hypnotherapy?   The Valerie Austin Method approaches the problem by accessing the particular part of the subconscious that derives satisfaction from smoking. Using this method, the 'part' is quickly identified and fixed. If you really want to stop smoking, then one session could be all you need to quit and do so without the normal side effects.

"It's no exaggeration to say that David is an outstanding practitioner. Having worked with him to stop smoking and other personal challenges David's intervention had an immediate, lasting and profound impact, helping me to make changes that had previously been slow to realise. The investment in time and money was certainly very well spent."

When I arrived to see you two months ago I had been made redundant, was over twenty stone and smoked over twenty cigarettes a day. Now two months on, just as you said, I still have no desire for a cigarette even when I am in the most stressful situations. It just feels so good.

Yesterday I cycled over 20 miles. I got on the scales today and I have lost eight pounds which equates to about two pounds per week.

Thank you!

stop smoking

Well, it's been almost 11 weeks now since I visited you to help me stop smoking.

I can report with  utter glee, that I have not smoked since my hypnotherapy session with you and I *know* that I never will again :-)

The guilt I was feeling because of smoking (and thereby potentially depriving my children of a father) has long since vanished.

My family are so glad I have stopped smoking, I have joined a gym, I have been studying again (I'm already part qualified) and I'm looking for a new job!

So, thank you for another chance at life!

I feel renewed, free and alive. It's only been a month, but it feels like a distant memory for me sometimes. Sometimes, I get a reminiscent urge, but it passes as quickly as it comes. I just do my deep breathing and drink more water.

I had two strange dreams about smoking. I think for me, smoking was a 'demon' and it had a really deep hold on me. My dreams were expressing a kind of 'possession' dare I say it but they kind of tested me and I think you subconsciously released me, if that makes sense.

I feel great!!
