phobia therapy clinic based in London, specialising in hypnosis for  phobias such as fear of spiders, fear of flying, fear of heights, fear of lifts, illness phobia, claustrophobia, agoraphobia

What is a phobia?  A fear and avoidance of objects or situations. Exposure to this object or situation may elicit a panic reaction. This fear is strong enough to interfere with your normal routines, work, or relationships, and even though you recognize their irrationalities they can cause you significant distress.

Examples of common phobias: (Click for more details)
Animal / Insect  e.g. spiders, mice, bees, snakes etc.
Fear of Heights - even the smallest ladder can cause vertigo in acrophobics
Panic Attacks - increased breathing rate, heart rate, anxiety etc
Fear of Flying - 20% of the population are anxious when flying
Illness Phobia -Sufferers are convinced that they have a life threatening illness.
Doctor / Dentist Phobia - Fear of this kind can result in medical neglect
Claustrophobia -one of the most common phobias
Fear of Vomiting - once again, extremely common
Fear of Death - in its most severe form, prevents sufferers from leaving their home

Specific phobias are often childhood fears that were never outgrown. In certain instances they may develop after a traumatic event, such as an accident, natural disaster, illness, or visit to the dentist-in other words, as a result of conditioning. A final cause is childhood modelling. Repeated observation of a parent with a specific phobia can lead a child to develop it as well. A course of Hypnotherapy will assist in removing fearful thoughts that tend to perpetuate the specific phobia. This process will replace the fearful thoughts with positive controlled actions

What clients say...
fear of tube trains

Letter from a client successfully treated for fear of underground Tube trains

  fear of flying

Letter from a client successfully treated for fear of flying

 Dear David

...Yesterday, I even jumped on a train without any second thoughts and I didn't hesitate even though there were no seats free. I haven't done that in a long time especially not during the last few months. It's quite a surprise to me because I was waiting for some kind of panicky feelings to come back. but I felt quite calm......

  Hello David

I’m sorry its taken me so long to get round to sending this email – I’ve been meaning to do it since I got back from Mexico. I would like to say a massive thank you! The treatment was a definite success. Although I was petrified the day of the flight and convinced it hadn’t work, I was pleasantly surprised when after take off the massive panic attack I was expecting didn’t happen...Thanks again!

agoraphobia

Letter from a lady who was terrified to leave her house - a virtual prisoner in her own home for 13 years

Hi David,

Both K*** and I flew to Ireland and back following our treatment. Both take-offs and landings were pretty bumpy but we felt none of that old anxiety. As you know we are flying to Australia in three days time and are now actually looking forward to the flight! Thanks for all your help.

Dear David.

It will be 2 years next month that I came to see you.

Its thanks to you, I am still working and I feel excited about each new day, (that sounds a bit dramatic I know) but thats how I feel after years of not living at all, just the simple things in life that most take for granted.

Heard you on LBC yesterday, hope more and more people get there lives back the way I have with your work.

Thank you,

fear of injections fear of blood tests

Letter from a gentleman successfully treated for fear of injections

fear of the dark

Letter from a lady with a morbid fear of the dark

Dear David

I booked myself in for a blood test this morning.  I was still nervous about it, but I had none of the anticipatory anxiety which I would previously have had.  I didn't find the clinic or waiting room a traumatic experience.  When I actually had the blood test I felt a little uncomfortable, but I was at least able to rationalise the experience and recognise that I had nothing to fear.  My last blood test prior to this had been 20 years ago, and I had been worrying about my next one ever since.  When I have to have my next one, I know that I will improve even more.  I actually feel quite proud of what I achieved today (with your help, of course).

My very sincere thanks for allowing me to move on and worry about only the important things in life!

Dear David,

Weird is not the word – I had no idea what to expect and what difference it would make to me, but I just knew I didn’t want to carry living my life the way it was (scared, frightened having been mugged a few months earlier) and was desperate to change it but didn’t  know how to go about it.  I just wanted to be as I used to be.

I am not a victim any more I am free and life feels so good.

Thank you for all your help.

G***

hypnotherapy is therapy carried out whilst in hypnosis. What is Hypnosis? Literally it is a heightened state of awareness during which the subconscious mind is able to accept positive suggestions. HYPNOTHERAPY can help you with anger control, weight control and to make you stop smoking. By Weight Control it doesn't necessarily mean weight loss or weight gain for cosmetic reasons but also for eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia. The hypnotherapist will also be able to help with the sleep disorder insomnia. You can be taught self hypnosis to allow you to learn relaxation, to make that change in your life. Do you have a phobia? Phobias such as fear of spiders, fear of flying and claustrophobia can all be helped with HYPNOSIS. If you suffer from panic attacks, depression lack of self esteem or self confidence, a few sessions with an experienced HYPNOTHERAPIST will leave you free from your fears and allow you to change your life for the better.
