fear of flying  Aviophobia Aviatophobia Pteromerhanophobia  fear of flying treated effectively with hypnosis. Specialist hypnotherapy clinic based in London

Fear of flying - Aviophobia Aviatophobia Aerophobia or Pteromerhanophobia - The fear of flying  is a relatively common state of anxiety that affects both men and women. This level of anxiety can be so great that it prevents a person from travelling by plane, or causes such great distress to a person if  he or she has to make a journey by air. The most extreme manifestations can include panic attacks, increased breathing rate, light-headedness or nausea at the very mention of  air travel.

Causes of fear of flying: The fear of flying has deep-seated roots in the subconscious and may be created by various other phobias and fears:

  • - a fear of closed in spaces
    - a fear of vomiting (either themselves or others) EMETOPHOBIA
  • - a fear of heights
  • - a feeling of not being in control
  • - a fear of panic attacks and the embarrassment that may follow
  • - a fear of terrorism
  • - a fear of the motion experienced during turbulence
  • - a fear of crashing (this is rare - the other causes above are normally present first)

How hypnotherapy hypnosis therapy can treat fear of flying:
Fear of flying most commonly develops from a childhood fear that has never been outgrown. Perhaps a traumatic incident was witnessed or experienced when young that may not necessarily have anything to do with flying

Regression Hypnotherapy will allow a person to remember that particular event and review it with 'adult' eyes this time around. This will then allow them to interpret the event correctly and it will no longer be an issue for them.

Fear of flying client case history:

Hi David,

I'm just dropping you a line (as promised) to update you on me as a flyer! Since we concluded our sessions back in early Dec, I have since flown around 8 return trips (i.e. 16 legs) on various aircraft; from 8 seater twin prop planes to large Airbus 320's. I've also been on flights during gales and stormy weather and seem successfully (touch wood) to have beaten the fear that plagued me for so long.

I am now able to undertake my new job with full confidence and without the additional stress and extreme anxiety that flying would cause me. I now fly a return trip at least once a week and will continue doing so for the foreseeable future. I am at last able to treat flying as just another form of transport, just in the same way people see buses or trains. I cannot tell you how happy I am to be able to do this.

As we discussed, every now and again I get the odd, faint glimmer of unease, but each bout of this I treat with the contempt it deserves and allow myself to relax into my new found state of ease and confidence.

I am for the first time realistically hoping to start taking flying lessons in the near future and achieve something which has been a dream for so long but thus far unattainable due to my condition.

As a sceptic when I first arrived to see you, I am now fully converted and won over by the power of hypnotherapy!

Thanks once again and best wishes for the future. Please don't hesitate to use this email as a testimonial if you wish.

All the best,

Duncan Gibson
